Consul General Laura Lochman invited members of Theatre Calgary and some of the performers in its current production of Cats to a reception at her residence on May 7.

Consul General Lochman hosted performers, officers and Board members of Theatre Calgary and others in the local arts community, which has longstanding ties with the Consulate. She welcomed the opportunity to continue links between Canada and the United States in the arts, noting that usually when she talks about the relationship between the two countries, it involves trade or security, but that the ties between the two countries in the arts are an important link as well.

Guests were treated to a spectacular surprise performance of the song “Memory” by one of the “cats,” Cailin Stadnyk, in the character of Grizabella. Cats is the second longest-running show in Broadway history, and Theatre Calgary’s current production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is a proven success, currently held over in the city until May 19.
